The Mozilla Labs Design Challenge is a series of events to encourage innovation, and experimentation in user interface design for the Web. Our aim is to provoke thought, facilitate discussion, and inspire future design directions for Firefox, the Mozilla project, and the Web as a whole.
In collaboration with IxDA, a network dedicated to the professional practice of Interaction Design and Johnny Holland, an open collective talking, sharing and finding answers about all aspects of interaction design, we once again invite designers, students and design-focused people from all around the world to develop new ideas & mockups for the future of the Web.
For this Design Challenge we are focusing on finding creative solutions to the question: “Reinventing Tabs in the Browser – How can we create, navigate and manage multiple web sites within the same browser instance?”
- May 14th, 2009 – Launch of Design Challenge: Summer 09
- June 21st, 2009 – Submission deadline for mockups & videos
- July 8th, 2009 – Announcement of “Best in Class” and “People’s Choice” selection

Está aberta uma vaga na área “Design de interface e desenho”. Today we’re announcing the first of a series of Design Challenges as part of the Mozilla Lab’s Concept Series. We’re inviting design-focused students from around the world to develop new ideas & prototypes for the future of the Web.
If you’re a student, help us answer the question: “What would a browser look like if the Web was all there was? No windows, no unnecessary trappings. Just the Web.”

Bosa Properties Inc. is seeking an artist or a team of artists to create artwork associated with the development of four residential/commercial towers located in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada. This Call for Qualifications has been prepared to solicit responses from international artists experienced with public art, budgeting and collaboration with urban design teams.
This Call for Qualifications does not require the preparation of a proposal. Bosa Properties is NOT asking for concepts at this stage and those proponents who enter concepts or design submissions will have their entries returned and will not receive further consideration.
The objectives of the project are to:
• Excite the imagination of the com- munity and increase its under- standing, enjoyment and involve- ment in public art;
• Where possible integrate public art into the space in order to enhance the public place;
• Raise the awareness of public art;
Up to five artists or artist teams will be shortlisted and will receive a fee of $ 1,000 (exclusive of GST) to attend the orientation meeting. Selected artists will enter into a design services contract agreement with Bosa Properties Inc.

This full-day workshop will help interaction designers learn to “thinker” through tinkering with physical computing artifacts. The idea is to bring together talented individuals from the realm of interaction design, introduce them to new concepts/artifacts in the realm of physical computing, and allow them to put the two together. Most importantly, it will be an opportunity for interaction designers to get their hands dirty with electronics, soldering, and wiring, and learn how to interface hardware artifacts with virtual interactions. Each participant will receive a customized interactive hardware kit to work with and take home.

We are proud to announce that FILE Labo, the new media laboratory of Electronic Language International Festival, is now launching its first call for project proposals.
The LABO is a free territory for creation and invention; an independent and collaborative network for the development of art, science and technology, located in São Paulo, at the SESI Vila Leopoldina Cultural Center, and devised under a platform of collaboration among creators and professionals of different areas. There, you will find collaborators from technical, theoretical, and political-cultural areas, who will follow and support the development of your proposal.
