This year, the sdn conference, entitled “beyond basics”, will take place on Madeira in Portugal, an island that provides great facilities and professional support for our come-together. Apart from excellent value for money and beautiful surroundings, it offers professional and pleasant conditions to make this event happen. Not at least the cooperation with sdn member University of Madeira is a great help during the planning process and was one of the main deciding factors for choosing Madeira as our conference venue.

Having explored the basics of Service Design in many interesting presentations and workshops at last year’s sdn conference, it is now time to dig deeper into the field. We will present a vivid mix of different presentations, workshops and papers in order to provide you with academic and practical expertise from renowned international players in the Service Design field. Don’t miss this chance to socialise, gain knowledge and exchange experiences with Service Designers and service-oriented companies worldwide!

We are looking forward to seeing you all in October (26th-27th) and an inspiring, motivating and gainful time on Madeira in Portugal. Members will already meet on the “Members Day”, 25th of October!

As the Call for Papers is still open, we cannot announce any confirmed speakers yet. Please keep watching this space – we will update it as soon as possible!

Historically posters have been inextricably linked with cause-related campaigns. Visually striking, often iconic and frequently iconoclastic, posters grab the attention like no other medium. They effectively help spread a succinct message and in doing so shift attitudes and contribute to significant changes within society.

The brief is to design a poster that delivers the message ‘Be a Part of the Action’ – this does not necessarily have to be expressed in words. The poster could bear witness to catastrophic environmental damage and in doing so, cause outrage. Alternatively the poster could actively encourage peaceful protest to expose an environmental problem.

Above all, the poster needs to raise awareness of environmental issues and inspire action.

The purpose of Greenpeace Design Awards is to acknowledge the achievements of the most innovative and creative individuals whose work best reflects environmental concerns in a visually striking and iconic way.

Entrants will have a chance to bring about real change in society as their work will be considered for use for major Greenpeace Australian Pacific campaigns.

In recognition of the excellence in design, the winning entrants will be awarded a unique Greenpeace Design Awards trophy.
