SPTID is an international competition reserved for graphic designers, creatives, designers and architects who are called to develop new ideas and graphic solutions for the corporate image of the San Pellegrino Terme territorial system.
The main idea is to make the San Pellegrino Terme territorial system an important destination for elite tourism, a place in which activities linked to wellness, body care, luxury
shopping and entertainment coexist.
The first step of the communication process of this territorial system project will be the identification of a solution that will set off the features of exclusiveness, quality, pleasure
research, wellness and excellence that this destination intends to offer.
Prizes
The total prize money is 20,000.
The first place winner of the Competition will receive a prize of 15,000; the second place winner will receive a prize of 3,000; the third place winner will receive a prize
of 2,000.
The money prize awarded to the first place winner is meant to be an acknowledgement of the merits and of the project quality and also to be the compensation for
the authorization given to the organizing body to exploit the outcome.

PRINT IN MOTION is Print magazine’s new competition dedicated to motion graphics. All winning entries will be featured on our website and receive a special mention in an issue of Print.
Work must have been created between November 15, 2008 and November 15, 2009. Proposals and/or rejected spots will not be considered. Entire videos should be entered; stills will not be considered.
DEADLINE
All entries must be postmarked no later than November 15, 2009. Entries postmarked after November 15 require a late fee of $25 per entry. Entries postmarked after December 15, 2009, will not be accepted.
PAYMENT
Payment must accompany entries. Entries received without payment will be disqualified. Entry fees are nonrefundable. You may pay by credit card online or send a check. Make checks payable (in U.S. funds, drawn on a U.S. bank) to Print in Motion. Credit card charges will appear on your statement as “F+W Contest” within 90 days of the contest deadline. A $10 fee will be charged for returned checks and declined credit card payments.

This year, the sdn conference, entitled “beyond basics”, will take place on Madeira in Portugal, an island that provides great facilities and professional support for our come-together. Apart from excellent value for money and beautiful surroundings, it offers professional and pleasant conditions to make this event happen. Not at least the cooperation with sdn member University of Madeira is a great help during the planning process and was one of the main deciding factors for choosing Madeira as our conference venue.
Having explored the basics of Service Design in many interesting presentations and workshops at last year’s sdn conference, it is now time to dig deeper into the field. We will present a vivid mix of different presentations, workshops and papers in order to provide you with academic and practical expertise from renowned international players in the Service Design field. Don’t miss this chance to socialise, gain knowledge and exchange experiences with Service Designers and service-oriented companies worldwide!
We are looking forward to seeing you all in October (26th-27th) and an inspiring, motivating and gainful time on Madeira in Portugal. Members will already meet on the “Members Day”, 25th of October!

The summer school „value through less“ offers students from all over the world the unique possibility to design and to shape the future lifestyle in a sustainable way.

Parallel design workshops with different focused subjects (i.e. rituals, area of needs etc.) including evening talks with Prof. Dr. Schmidt-Bleek and Michael Radau about new products and servicesin a dematerialized world.
Day 7:
Group presentations. Visit to Insel Hombroich.
Good-bye party
The workshop starts with an excursion to visit locations from the
period of coal mining which are now transferred into sustainable re-use.
As an introduction to the subject the students will participate in the first two workshop days of the international congress
»The Future of Sustainable Products and Services« Innovation Conference, 28./29.09.09, where renowned experts on business, science, ecology and sustainability will present the latest research results on sustainable issues. On the third day the students will be grouped into teams
(4 to 6 students). They will be introduced to the working methodology of the workshops, which will continue for 4 days in total. An experienced team of professors will guide the workshops.
At the end of each workshop day the students will have the possibility to share their ideas and their experience with an expert in eco-efficiency, like Prof. Dr. Schmidt-Bleek (President, Factor 10 Institute) and eco-business, like Michael Radau, (CEO, SuperBioMarkt AG).
The team work will end with a presentation of the elaborated concepts. Finally a discussion will take place that relates the concepts of the students to the criteria of sustainability.
The summer school will end with a trip to the
Museumsinsel Hombroich and a party.

Categories
Material In this category newly developed or already existing materials can be submitted. In demand are pure materials, for which no applications must have been found.. Also technical materials that are bound to serial production are suitable. A material sample with information on the most important material properties is required. for the jury meeting.
Product This category is for products from all sectors of the economy that are already in production and in which new or familiar materials and material properties are innovatively applied (conductive, luminous, energy-storing, material-saving etc.) Original products or prototypes and scale models are required for the jury session; an accompanying material sample is desirable.
Surface This category is dedicated to new production processes and novel surfaces. For the jury meeting, contestants need to submit a description of the production process or surface, supported by a material or product sample. An example of use is desirable.
CO2 Efficiency In this category materials, products, surfaces, technologies or processes can be submitted, that are demonstrably reducing CO2 emissions. This may occur e.g. by savings in material components, lower energy costs in manufacturing or processing. But also raw material conservation, recycling or the reduction of manufacturing steps contribute to relive the environment.

The Mozilla Labs Design Challenge is a series of events to encourage innovation, and experimentation in user interface design for the Web. Our aim is to provoke thought, facilitate discussion, and inspire future design directions for Firefox, the Mozilla project, and the Web as a whole.
In collaboration with IxDA, a network dedicated to the professional practice of Interaction Design and Johnny Holland, an open collective talking, sharing and finding answers about all aspects of interaction design, we once again invite designers, students and design-focused people from all around the world to develop new ideas & mockups for the future of the Web.

Estão abertas até o dia 18 de junho as inscrições para dois concursos para professores do Departamento de Desenho Industrial da Faac (Faculdade de Arquitetura, Artes e Comunicação) do campus Bauru da Unesp (Universidade Estadual Paulista), no nível de professor assistente doutor. Uma única vaga é oferecida em cada concurso, sendo o primeiro deles para o conjunto de disciplinas “Fotografia I, II e III” e “Projeto I, II e III”, e o segundo para o conjunto de disciplinas “Projeto I, II e III”, “Oficina de madeira” e “Oficina de materiais plásticos”. Ambos os postos terão regime de trabalho de 40 horas semanais, com dedicação exclusiva, e salário de R$ 6.325,31., Caso o candidato tenha o título de livre-docente, a remuneração será R$ 7.541,33. A qualificação necessária à inscrição para o concurso será demonstrada pelos estudos, em nível de graduação ou pós-graduação, na área de conhecimento em questão. Today we’re announcing the first of a series of Design Challenges as part of the Mozilla Lab’s Concept Series. We’re inviting design-focused students from around the world to develop new ideas & prototypes for the future of the Web.
